Australia is a great sporting nation and so it naturally follows that the Police and Emergency Services are heavily involved in sporting competitions.

Here are a few of such sporting events that are being held in Australia.

NSW Police Sport (http://www.nswpolicesport.com)

Australia & New Zealand Police Games (http://www.anzpolicegames.asn.au)

World Police & Fire Games (http://www.2005wpfg.org/eng/index.html)

The 2005 World Police & Fire Games are being held in Quebec and The 2007 World Police & Fire Games are to be held in Australia.

It would be interesting to hear from any member who has participated in any of the previous years games or intends to compete in any of the above or perhaps any of their own countries local Police and Fire Games.

I play Lawn Bowls and I will be competing in some of the Australia and New Zealand Police Games.

Cheers. :)

Thats pretty awsome........I'm sure its a huge morale booster. Over in the states, I'm not aware of any large police exclusive competitions. We do have local basketball games for the Police Athletic League, and occasionally the PBA will sponser a game or something like that. We do have plenty of competion which tests LE abilities such as the Toughest Cop Competion, and the SWAT Round Up in Orange County FL.

They may not be completely exclusive to LEOs, but in my area we have several comeptitions. Some of them are:

The 4 Guinness guzzle
The head to head Cuervo shot competition
The bleary-eyed Budweiser brawl

These are but a few of the many fine competitions in my area that we as law enforcement officers proudly participate in.

I've seen some of those emergency services and police games on tv. The last one I saw was for charity. It was Cops vs Firefighters.

;) Of course the cops won but the money went to charity.

There are actually quite a few Police and Fire Games in North America.

The Can-Am games, Western States, New York, Colorado, Arizona, Ohio, Tennessee, Winter Games. Those are just a few of the ones I'm familiar with. I think we even have one for Canada.

We had a few people from work go to the 2003 WPFG in Barcelona. Besides, the heat, they said it was a great time.

I'm putting a team in for this year's WPFG in Quebec. Paintball is making its debut so I decided to enter a team. We thought about a rugby 7's team, but I don't think we'd stand a chance against you Aussies or the Brits.

They aren't exculive to LEO's because I myself have participated in all of those games! I also like to play in the Margarita Bowl!
