I have been trying to become a police officer for approximatley the last three years and have had no success. one of the major reasons I think I am not getting hired is a general discharge from the army. I am close to receiving a bacelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration. I also have been working corrections for three years and have promoted to the rank of seargent. What I want to know is if any agency will hire me if I have a general discharge even if I have a degree and corrections experience. Can this be done or am I just wasting my time.

I'd try to make contact with the branch you just left to see if you can have your general turned into an honorable discharge. It's been done before. It depends on how you earned your general and how much work both you and the review board care to put into fixing it. A friend of mine had that trouble after being chapterd for his body fat though he could pass the pt test. His general turned honorable after six months. This was in 99 so it could be dated.
