New NYPD Testing

They just opened the exam period again and they are waiving the fee for all those interested. Exam Filing: February 2 to April 22, 2005. With the test on June 18th. Even though I'm going through a hiring process(Maine State Police) now I think I'm going to apply. Does anyone know why they wait so long just to take the written test? Is there anyway to take it sooner?

Probably because they are still testing others right now and it depends on when the agency they use wants to do the tests. NYPD does not actually give you the test. A private agency does and thats show scores/grades it. Also they are still going off exam number from like 2 yrs back right now. When I had take then written test. I had filed for it in Oct and took the test in Feb...so yes it is normal to wait that long.
