I will be applying to several departments in Washington and Oregon in the next couple months and need a book to prepare for the written exam. Can anyone suggest some good titles?

Depends on what exam they use. But why use a book to enhance your chances of doing well on the exam? Do a search on here or go to 911hotjobs.com and they have some books on there.

What departments in Oregon are you looking at applying to? I have tested with 7 departments and have taken 4 different tests(have a conditional offer and two other backgrounds in progress, must be doing something right). Some do video tests where you watch a clip and answer questions, don't think a study guide will help; some use the POST test which I received a small booklet in the mail from one of the departments that I tested with, helped a little not much; Portland and OSP have totally different tests, Portland has a study guide that you can print off of their website.

You will have to figure out what kind of test the department that you apply to uses. Then figure out what book is most likely to help.
