The Waterford Police Department, Waterford , NY is in the process of being disolved by the current Town Supervisor and Town Board Members.
Officer and Civilian dispatchers, approximately 25-30 people are about to loose their jobs. The Town Board is in the process of signing a contract with the Saratoga County Sheriffs Office. Current Waterford Officers, who qualify will be absorbed by the sheriffs, while full and part time dispatchers will loose their jobs completely. This is unacceptable to the Police Officers Union. We have public support of our residents and are pressing the matter to be brought before our residents in a referendum vote. We are asking all police Officers and communications people to contact the following people and voise their opposition to the disbanding of the police department. The Town Supervisor has told residents that the PD takes up 85% of the budged which is a lie and we have proven our point to our residents which are firmly wityh us. We take up 18% of the budget.
We are asking everyone to call or e-mail the following people before Tuesday Feb 1, 2005 which is the next Town Board Meeting.
Please contact the following and assist fellow brothers in blue.

Carl Benoit - Public Safety Commissioner at benoitc@town.waterford.ny.us

John Lawler - Town Supervisor Home 518-237-8753.
Town Clerk - 518-237-2455
