Hi Folks

I'm new,I'm from New York and Im in the final phase of the screening process to be a sub-contractor training police and
corrections in Iraq. I need info on what to expect I'll really be
doing? Is the contract negotiable for benefits and money? Where
to get life insurance? What did your employer do for you as far as
a leave of absence?

Thanks in advance for the info. Please respond ASAP

I pm'd ya back with some of your questions answered I hope. My department did not afford me a leave of absence even when I initially asked for just five months. They said they were too short handed, so I resigned and came anyways. If you work for a larger dept. they might consider it. One other thing is that some of the guys say that their states will not count there time here against their time away from their respective P.O.S.T. deadlines. I wrote to the NV state post commission and they had no provisions for this. It's not a problem because they just recently went from 2 years to 5. Anyways, hope this helps ya. And, no, even though your a private contractor the contract is in place the same for everyone, pay and benefits too. If you don't like the contract you can either not come or go home early if you wish. Either party can break the contract at anytime, however, if you have ambitions of going on another mission I'd strongly suggest completing what you intially signed on for and then go home if your not happy. Pm if you need more.....good luck!
