In the International Police Association - New Zealand Section - Pics, there are photos of New Zealand Police Officers wearing a white helmet and there appears to be no badge on it.

Is this helmet only for ceremonial dress. It looks rather like the British Police helmet, only white and with no badge.

Greetings JK. The NZ police helmet (white and dark blue) were done away with several years ago. We are now only issued with the flat (forage) cap. Essentially in the halycon days of beat, the beat cop wote the white helmet during the day and the dark blue one at night.
From my observations the helmet was similar to the British one. A badge was affixed to both blue and white helmets( I have never seen a helmet without one)
Some the members, myself included, have kept their helmets when they were phased out.

John,

I've had a look and the helmet plates are visible on at least one of the pictures. Some UK forces the Isle of Man for one issue(d) white summer helmets.

Most forces also issued night helmets with black helmet plates.

Constables & sergeants still get to wear(dark) helmets in English & Welsh forces. They've not issued helmets in Scotland or Ireland for donkeys years.

Yeah, your're dead right Lobster. I had another look at a close up and sure enough, there is a badge.

Cheers.
