Here is an interesting article where Major Garry Evanson describes the work of the Royal Military Police world-wide and its increasingly close links with local police forces in the UK.

Interesting. I would take it that they are generally not armed (or not visably armed) in the UK, off base. What do they carry as a handgun when armed on base, in the UK? Do they carry handguns or just the SA80A2 outside the UK on duty?

You often see them up in Central London pretending to be looking for errant Squadies but seeing as the squaddies arent in uniform I am not sure how they can tell what they are looking for! Are they just checking out the crumpet or am I being cynical? When on such duties they are not normally armed.

No matter what the duties, no matter where the country, the crumpet must always be checked out. ;)

:( On a more sombre note.
