On Oct. 13 the US Supreme Court will hear the case of Roper v. Simmons. The issue on this case is the constitutionality of executing minors. I personally feel that if you take someones life, that you deserve to be killed the same way you killed the other person. What does everyone else think?
I agree. Each case should be tried on an individaul basis. That means, during the sentencing phase, execution should always be an option on the table. To say that execution should never be an option is simply a gross generalization.
BTW if anyone wants to (mis)quote the Bible to say that the death penalty is morally wrong, I have laid out a Biblical case which I will post when pertinent.

I agree. I do not believe age is a factor in a premeditated or vicious murder. If you have the mentality to commit the crime then you are culpable. And personally I would rather my money go toward supporting the appeals process to finally one day rid the world of a killer, than for my tax dollars to keep them fed, clothed, and housed in prison.

If someone commits a premeditated murder then the state should return the favor. If a person is old enough to plan and execute the murder of another, then that person is old enough to suffer a state sponsored execution for his actions. I'm sick of seeing criminals coddled which IMHO simply encourages them to repeat their crimes.

While I understand the need of justice, I just don't believe killing another person knowingly is the key. We have a satisfactory ( at best ) justice system, What if we make a mistake?? . I understand that the criminals have to be punished, why don't we think of other alternatives apart from killing them.

What do you feel an alternative should be?

ESDavis,
You gotta be careful here; the motive of opponents is to make us look extreme. While there have been many punk juvies I think deserve capital punishment, I'd be reticent about vocing my opinion because I know the spin liberal media will put on it. There are too damn many liberals who will take any approach to eliminating the death penaly, and if they can forsake one "kid" to achieve their agenda...
I am inclined to remain silent on this issue, letting the Court decide. The last thing I want to endure is the elimination of capital punishment for all criminals.
As a side note, isn't it ironic that those who advocate infanticide are the one's defending a criminal's right to life? I believe mental illness is causal for such rationale: allow Charles Manson to live, but yank that baby right out of its mother's womb!
Take care,
JW

On a cop forum such as this, it shouldn't be a surprise that most favor the DP.

ESDavis,
Well, Mr. Davis, just to let you know, I am an extremely conservative person who absolutely fears the lunacy of the liberal left; in fact, I believe it is the bane of individual freedom, and this country was founded upon that concept!
Oh, yeah, one more little thing: law enforcement is dominated by conservatives.
Pray for a Bush re-election.
Take care,
JW

Prayer for a Bush re-election?
That's prayer for this world to be one step closer to the apocolypse.

Evan,
That's prayer for this world to be one step closer to the apocolypse.
As was proved under the Clinton Administration, playing osterich will bring the apocolypse to us! It is wholly naive to assume that if we're nice to people who hate us they will suddenly love us!
We got bombs...let's use 'me!
Adios Evan,
