I found out about a month ago that I had passed oral boards and a BI was to be assigned. Between now and then I've had a couple of current officers offer to contact the BI on my behalf once I knew who it was. Today I spoke to my BI and will be going in to meet with him next week.

Should I call the officers and take them up on their offers or would this make me look bad to the recruiters? I'm not worried about the background check, but I really want to work for this Dept. and will use any advantage I can.

Well, now that you know who your BI is, I suppose it is pointless in having the officers contact the BI - what will it accomplish? Ask yourself that question.
Since you do not expect any problems with your background, don't sweat it, you'll be fine. When you do meet with the BI just be honest and upfront about everything.

Why didn't you put those officers down as references, and let the BI contact them first?
