Another Question

Ok...not to be a discussion board hog...but I have another question. I'm selling insurance right now, but was told that if I got a job in security, or volunteered with emergency management or ESDA, that would help my chances of getting a police job. Do you agree? I've heard so many stories of people getting jobs who had NO related experience, so that's why I'm questioning it. Don't know if I can work for security wages and still pay the bills....that's my only hesitation. Thanks again for your input. It's nice to have a place to ask these questions!

Without knowing who you're applying to, it's difficult to say. All dept's have their own hiring philosophy. I know Madison, WI PD used to prefer no prior experience and recruited folks from outside the LE field....on the other spectrum, some depts with the "old school" mentality love prior experience

We can all give you personal opinions here, but it all boils down to the particular agency you're applying to
