When I was a teenager, about 14 maybe 15 I experimented with some drugs. To get more specific pot a couple time and I tried mushrooms once. I know that certain departments have rules about this but I am just not sure what they are. I am 23 now and have not used at all since that time. I Have been in the Army for just shy of 4 years and I currently hold the rank of E-5 SGT. I am in Iraq right now as a combat team SGT for search and recovery as well as mortuary operations. I was just wondering eventhough I have accomplished so much if those previous uses would hamper my chances in Law Enforcemnt.

It depends on the agency and the area. Some agencies would look at it as in the past. I don't think the marijuana would hurt you but the other could cause an issue. Just be honest and if you are looking to go back to Washington state I think they use poly. Oregon does not.

I would seriously doubt that it would hurt your chances. Of course nothing's 100% and a job opening could come down to between you and someone with the same credentials who didn't use drugs.

I think as long as your honest and state when it occurred and it show that it hasn't happened since, you may be all set. Of course this will vary from department to department.
