Does your state have a lottery, and if so, and do you play? How often do you play, and have you ever won?

I only play when there's big money. I know the old saying, "You've got to play to win", but I have no luck on those things.

"There's no place like home."

Here in Texas, we have many lottery's. The main one is "The Texas Lottery," which starts at $4 million. It goes up about 3-4 million each time. Drawings are twice a week (Wednesday's & Saturday's). We play sometimes, especially when it gets up in the 40's and 50's.

No, we've never won, but sure would be nice. On the "i'll only play when it's high enough," $4 million is enough for me http://www.officer.com/ubb/cool.gif

If you match 3 numbers, you get $3. Match 4, you get like several hundred $$$, match 5, several thousand $$$, and all 6, the jackpot.

Yes, Ohio has a lottery but the only thing I will play is the occasional scratch-offs.

Virginia has several lotteries. I took too many math courses in college to even consider playing. http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

I throw a dollar in the pot for the Texas lottery every now & then. About two weeks ago I won $3 on it. I've done that three or four times but that's as high as it gets for me. Usually when the jackpot gets really high I'll get a couple of tickets. Funny why that is because RPD is right, $4 million IS enough.

Arizona also has several lotteries. I don't play them, but my wife does. OTOH I don't have very good luck in Laughlin or Vegas, but she does, so I'm not complaining.

Maybe someday??? http://www.officer.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I used to have an open mind - but my brains kept falling out.

Plus i am such a tightwad that whenever i get the urge to buy one, i can think of other things i want to do with my money. http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

FL rotates their scratch off games in and out of different versions. The Lotto and Fantasy 5 are the big ones. It's BIG business down here.

I usually only play when the jackpot is HUGE, but once in a while play when it's "only" 3 million.

North Carolina does not have a lottery. I like to play sometimes, and when I go to Georgia I buy a ticket for the next ten draws and play for five weeks. I just check the winning numbers on my comp. I have never even come close to winning. If I did I would probably turn worthless.

I play when the pot is high enough. At my age, it would be doubly nice to win and not have to worry about money.

I think the ultimate situation would be to win the lottery (in the millions) plus be a police officer. That would just be sweet.

We here in California just had a lottery up over $141 million ... and as of last night, the winner STILL had not come forward to claim the money. It was sold down in or near San Jose ....... I'd love to just win 1 millon ... pay off my debts, and then I could afford to buy a house here ... maybe.

Michigan has one, but I play Powerball in Indiana sometimes, but not a lot. When I lived in Arizona I played a a five # game called Fantasy Five. I hit four numbers and the fifth # I missed by one-15/16. It would have been $50,000, instead I got $500. http://www.officer.com/ubb/mad.gif

I hate to sound so cynical but if I did win the lottery I wouldnt even work a two week notice, I would be gone the day I am confirmed as the big winner. Reason being, everybody and their brother are gonna know that your the S.O.B. that won the lottery and is now trying to lock them up. I also think there are gonna be a few idiots out there that are going to try and provoke a lottery winning millionaire officer into a confrontation just in hopes of having a lawsuit. Lets not forget to mention the ones who have been involved in altercations that will file a lawsuit once they realize that the new millionaire officer is the one who thumped their head awhile back.

In my state we currently dont have a lottery, this has been a very big issue here lately. It was a huge issue in our last election for governer, with the lottery supporter winning, lottery legislation that has gone before our house and senate has been bogged down because of disagreements over the spending of lottery revenues. There was a lottery referendum on the ballot in Nov. 2000, the citizens of this state voted for a lottery and still havent seen a single lottery ticket yet. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent in neighboring Georgia by South Carolina citizens going to by lottery tickets, myself included.

I hope we get a lottery here someday, I will play it every week, every time I go to Georgia and Florida I buy tickets in hopes of becoming an instant millionaire, unfortunately I am still wiating for the windfall to come my way. http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

If I ever do win the lottery I will be moving to Florida and be spending the rest of my life with a golf club in one hand and a Corona in the other! http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I only buy a Powerball ticket, once in awhile. My ex won the Md. Lotto while I was still married to him. Not millions.

The winners of the recent 28 million dollar lottery here are a retired couple. They had to leave their modest home and hideout because of the press and so many people wanting handouts! I would leave too. I mean, complete strangers were coming to their door wanting money. Scary!
People will do anything for money. My husband's "dear" brother turned into a monster when he became executor of a million dollar estate. There is nothing left and his brothers won't press charges either. But, he ain't EVER coming in my house EVER again.
