How beat up is it? I got a Stinger XT in December and I always keep in in it's leather holder, but the radio case's metal rings (I don't even know why they're there) rubs against the top of the light and is scratching it all to Hell.

Last night I dropped it on pavement and put 2 big dings in it! I know anything's going to get a little worn after awhile, but It was a $90 light! How beat up are your lights? Maybe make me feel a little better about myself...

I have the same problem. The paint is rubbing off too. But it still the best light I ever had.

Lights, like guns, are tools. When tools get used, they collect marks. I have some of my old service guns that look like I dragged them behind a car down a dirt road. Some of those marks remind me of certain investigations or arrests, where those signs of use were collected.
We used to call that "being salty", from the Navy term for being experienced. If it works, I don't care what it looks like.

P.S. The rings on your radio case are for attaching the sling that goes around your neck. You new guys have most likely never seen one.

I can certainly understand the concern after shelling out $90 for a light, but it's inevitable. I have a PolyStinger and it has little scratches and nicks on the surface. I've also dropped it many times and never had a problem.

You ought to see the large SL-20's some of my fellow officers carry...they have a sort of half-stainless/half-black color scheme. :D Those are $120 lights.

In sum, normal wear and tear. They're great lights!
