Just poking around the CHP site looks like the only VIP stuff they do is inhouse, ergo youd have to be CHP to get training for it. Of course, I could be wrong.

IIRC, the CHP does not provide protection for the Gov., other than for motorcades. The very small California State Police (or State Capitol Police) handles that.

The California State Police were absorbed into the CHP in 1995. They no longer exist!

Thanks, I moved out of the PRC in 1987. It was great, seeing California in my rear view mirror!
