I've got a Level IIA vest, size 2XXL that I don't need or use. It's in pretty good shape. If anyone needs one, I'd rather give it away than throw it away. All it'll cost you is the postage. Proof of employment will be required.

Keith,
I'm in Madison, WI and currently attending the police academy at MATC. I would love to take you up on your offer!

If the offer is still on the table, I would be very interested. I am a recently appointed deputy in dire need of protection. If I am too late then I hope that your generosity makes someone that much more safe out on the streets. I think that is very noble of you to look out for others. mburford

If you can't find someone to take the vest, check the internet for a place that purchases used vests. I ran across one once that would purchase used vests, refurbish or replace the carriers, then sell them at greatly discounted prices -- sometimes under $100. For those officers who work without vests because their department won't pay for them, cost really isn't an excuse not to have at least some protection.
The vest I wear is a hand-me-down from my sargeant that I got for free. It's not exactly form-fitting and it's less flexible than the new generation stuff, but it's better than no protection. I've been wearing it for 2 years now, enough time for me to save up the money to purchase a top-of-the line ABA Xtreme (should be here in 4-6 weeks).

I am looking for a vest for a relatively low cost. I am a seasonal officer and the department has a limited availability for vests, any good sites to check out?

I can't remember the site I checked out a couple of years ago, but if you search the web for "refurbished body armor" and you'll find plenty of places that offer them.

For body armor, check out First Choice Armor (http://www.firstchoicearmor.com). They are simply the best on the market. I am a LE dealer, and when I went searching for a body armor to sell, I decided on FCA after a lot of researching. For more information check out their web site or mine, or email me for detailed information. I am limited to selling in the Northeastern Pennsylvania area, but would be more than happy to assist anyone looking for body armor.
Good luck and stay safe.
