I'm considering a move out west. The Seattle area is really appealing. I see that KCSO is hiring and I'm considering going out for their testing protocol this summer.

I'm hoping that some of our WA area members can shed some light on the agency. How's the political climate? Good working area? Agency respected? Proactive and forward thinking or not? Any other considerations one should be aware of.

Thanks ahead of time.

You might want to talk to retdetsgt about Portland, OR. From a lot of what he's posted on the forum, it seems like it's a good department with pretty good pay and bennies.

Thanks ahead of time. I love the Seattle area, and out of all the agencies if I had to pick one to work for, it would be the KCSO. The agency is respected and the Sheriff is well respected also. They have a good chain of command with competitive pay. I hope this helps!

Jeeper,

I don't know whether you got the e-mail that I sent you before I received bulletin board rights so I will recap that e-mail:
King County is an excellent agency with alot of opportunities but it isn't the only Puget Sound agency testing now. Seattle needs to hire 80 more and Tacoma is looking at 30 more. Both are equally as good as KCSO. Lakewood PD is going to start up in several months and that is going to create more openings in other agencies so keep an eye out. If you need any other info about this area, give me an e-mail, I have worked five different departments in this area and know a little.
