I am trying to understand this theory out there about Racial Profiling. People keep claiming that they are pulled over just because they are of a certain race. Now, from my view point, I dont understand how an officer running radar on a highway targetting a vehicle speeding can possibly know at that time, whether the occupant of that vehicle is of what race and then use that conclusion to determine whether or not he is going to pull the car over. Also, i have seen studies that accuse departments of racially profiling because the demographics of their area do not match up on a percentage basiss with citations issued to that certain race. So if the town is at 20% black population, and the tickets a department hands out is 40% to blacks, this is to indicate racial profiling? How about this as a theory. How about telling those people who were pulled over for speeding to SLOW DOWN! Maybe i am not understanding this whole concept clearly. Wouldn't it be nice that if the entire demographic population of an area committed offenses in the same percentage as those that are cited. We dont live in that kind of world! I think is very unfortunate. If i pull you over and you're speeding, I dont care if you you're white, black, orange, blue or yellow. If you speed, you get a ticket. Of course giving people a break is a norm. But come on now! If you were pulled over for an infraction, quit calling racial profiling. BE A BETTER DRIVER!
