I'm having some trouble with an Privacy Act issue that I'm hoping you guys can help lead me in the right direction. I live in AZ, currently attending AJS classes. Okay, I'll try to make this short, but we'll have to back up to last year. My job had grown dramatically and even though we had begun to add people on, I could only get people that, well, weren't the brightest. The work ethic just wasn't there (except one). One of my worker's was bad news. She hacked into the company computers and not only compromised the timecard system to pad time, but also was able to get over 300+ employees names and SS#'s. She threatened to ruin people's credit if they didn't do as she said (she was trying to get a sexual harrassment suit against the VP and myself. There wasn't anything there, but she thought a suit like that would set her up with money for life. She had master keys that she wasn't supposed to have to the building including my office and computer. She was seen letting herself in and out of my office working on my computer. So, when I found all this out, from my other employee I went to HR. They investigated, but would not call the police about the identity theft issues. When I found out they would not address the issue, I resigned. I couldn't be responsible for what she was planning on doing. I loved my job of 7 years and had worked my way up into a nice position, but there was no way I could work there anymore. I did tell 3 other people to watch their accts before I left, I got a call from HR telling me I was not to speak to anyone from there about the issue again. That was Oct 30, 2003. I've kept my mouth shut, I haven't seen or spoke to more than 3 people there since. I do know that 1 person there had their credit messed with, along with my mother-in-law, but don't know if there are any others. It was reported to unemployment that they were not happy with my performance although you could never tell that from my high scores on reviews. Now, while doing my taxes, I went on the Social Securities website to verify, & got a message saying my SS number doesn't match with me! Now what?? Sorry this is so long, missing all detail, but you'd hate me if I wrote it all out. Thanks for any help, let me know if you need anything else answered.
