BlackBear - I've been feeling sick and crappy for a few days now, but your post brought a smile :) :)
I was born in Norway (Sarpsborg) - but I haven't been back there since '73 or '74.
Way fun to see your post - and God Jul to you also!!

krj,
I spend nearly all my spare time over there, mainly in the Oslo area (Working in England really sucks sometimes!!) and I am planning on moving there permanently within the next two years hopefully.
I will be giving up a job I love but that is a very small price to pay to be able to reside in the most beautiful country in the world (well in my opinion).
Sorry to here that you are feeling down and glad this brought you a smile.
I am still learning Norwegian and still make a lot of mistakes with the language!! But I am getting there.
We moved from Norway to England (Christchurch) when I was just a baby, but I visited with my grandparents in Lillestrom for six months in the early 70's.
Norwegian was not too difficult to learn (so many commonalities with the English language). Even after all these years I could probably still carry on a (short) conversation in Norwegian. Still have clear images of my grandparents with their Norwegian-English dictionary, and me with my English-Norwegian dictionary - and all three of us using many hand-signals to try and communicate with each other!! Thank goodness so many young people spoke English.
I have lived in a number of different countries, and visited many more - and I have to agree with you. Norway is a truly beautiful country. Thanks for the trip down memory lane :)

krj,
I grew up in Poole & Bornemouth, which as you will know only a stones throw from Christchurch.
