For those who remember the Victorian Prison Officer on the charge of shooting an escaping prisoner has had the charges dismissed, now he is free to get on with his life and work now that this heavy weight has been lifted from his and his familys back:)

The State of California (Most of you know their Governor I think) built a prision about 1/2 mile from the Mexican border. I understand the guards there have shot a number of people climbing the fences INTO the prison. Seems the illigal aliens just climb any fence in front of them on their way North
.
You folks in the UK have got to try living with a land border with a 3rd world country! (Ireland does not count!)

Sleuth,

Maybe I'm not reading this right but in what way does Ireland not count?

FYI - Ireland is not a 3rd world country , we've even got 'phones and everything. In some parts of the country property prices are not far off London prices.

Yeah Sleuth, I to am not sure what you meant in relation to your comments about Ireland.

Are you saying that Ireland is a third world country and if so, then on what basis do you make those comments?

Mate, a bit of friendly advice. I think you ought to nip this one in the bud before it gets out of hand.

The topic was about an Australian Prison Officer.

TO ALL:
My comment about Ireland was that it is NOT a 3rd world country!
When I was in the UK, I did hear some comments about Ireland to the effect that it was not as "civilized" as England.

My apologies to any whom I may have offended.

I too am glad to hear the officer was cleared. Will he face a civil case as most officers do in the US?
