Lt. Leroy Copen of the Kenosha County (WI) Sheriff's Department and his wife Lynn were killed this weekend when their car was rearended at a stop-light by a suspect fleeing police. The suspect and his girlfriend were both injured in the crash. I believe it was Kenosha Police who were involved in the pursuit of the suspected felony offender.
Lt. Copen was the current jail administrator and had held numerous other special assignments in his 25year with the KCSO. Lynn Copen was the Victim/Witness Coordinator for the Kenosha County District Attorney's Office. Although I had never met either of the Copen's I'm certain that their contributions to their community will be greatly missed. I do not believe funeral arrangements have been arranged yet. I'm sure KCSO and the Copen family would appreciate special mention in all of our prayers.
