The 9th Distric US Circuit Court reverses over 100 death sentences in CA due to the lack of a jury trial. Quite interesting that this happened let alone that a judge alone was sentencing persons to death in CA.

In California juries make the determination if the DP is to be imposed. I don't believe the ruling affected California. Those affected were in other states.
