The Los Banos Police Department
is continuously accepting applications for
Police Officer Lateral (Academy Graduate)
$3015 -$ 3730
Police Officer Trainee (Will attend POST academy)
$1785-$2169
The Department offers many benefits, including PERS 3@50 (full 9% paid by City), full medical coverage for self/family, education reimbursement, dental/vision plan, all equipment and uniforms are issued, dry cleaning service provided free, take-home vehicle if living within city, $25,000 life insurance paid by the City, and education/POST certificate incentive pay. Laterals recieve up to a $3000.00 bonus.
The Department has many special assignments, including Traffic Officer, Investigations (3 positions), Gang Officer, PAL, SRO (2 positions), COOL program (grant with probation dept), K-9, Narcotic Task Force, and the Computer Crimes Unit.
Positions require a high school diploma/GED; possession of a valid CA driver's license; U.S. citizenship; no felony convictions; and no history of substance abuse. You must pass a background investigation; meet minimum physical guidelines set up by P.O.S.T.; pass written/physical agility test; oral interview; psychological/medical exams; and be at least 21 years of age.
The City of Los Banos is a growing at approximately 7% a year, with a current population of 28,000. The City maintains a small town atmosphere, while accumulating business and residential growth. The City is about a two hour drive to the San Fransisco area, and about a five hour drive to the greater Los Angeles area.
