When you LEOs were in high school, what kind of grades did you make. Were you A students?, honor students?, average students?, or below average? I've just been wondering.

Average until my Senior year, then I pulled straight 'As'. I screwed around my Freshman year in college(1.9 GPA), then hit the books. I was on the President's List for academics 4 or 5 times during my last 3 years, winding up with a 3.0 overall GPA. BTW, I went straight through....got my B.S. in 3 years.

It was 13 years until I went back and got my Masters. Pulled a 3.8 GPA that go around.

Now my DAUGHTER is something TOTALLY different. She's a Junior in high school, makes straight 'As', started college last summer(pulled 'As' in US Gov't and Psych), and has 3 black belts in karate.

Interesting question because studies have shown that police are typically average students, getting grades good enough to participate in sports and no better.

I was a poor student.

It largely depended on the class. If I was interested, my grades were very good. If I wasn't interested, my grades were average.

Underdog I certainly identify with your post. If I was not interested in it, all I cared about was getting through it. Could have cared less what the grade was as long as I passed.

But then the stuff I was interested in was a different story. Good grades there. However averaging the two out, my grade point left a whole lot to be desired. http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif

I was average to just-below-average. I didn't really care. Why on earth would I need to ever figure the radius of a curve or the slope of a line? (Who'd have thought I'd later go on to be an accident reconstructionist!?) I took the ASVAB stoned and still scored a 120 GT.

When I got into college level courses, and I started paying on my own, I took it much more seriously. I now have a 3.95 GPA!

I was a terrible student! I reasoned that if I was doing well on the tests, I obviously knew the material, so there was no reason to do homework. The incomplete homework assignments really killed my grades. Math was hopeless. No matter how much I studied, got extra help and wracked my brain, I was lucky to pass at all. English, Spanish and Government-type classes were the best.

This is not an endorsement of bad study habits, nor of the terrible attitude I displayed. If I could do it all over again, studying and good grades would be the top priority.

Average grade's, My two brothers befor me were shining scholer's. so someone had to be the black sheep--Me. The Irish Christian Brothers speclized in smacking on me at least 3 time's a day just for general reason's and would scream NO WAY HE COULD BE HIS BROTHER'S BROTHER!

Terrible student. I got kicked out twice for fights (I couldn't walk away if someone made a challenge) I got mostly C's. Hated every minute I was there except for shop and playing football.

Out of HS I started to pal around with a cop and rode with him in the squad.I decided that's what I wanted to do. I went back to school and finished college with a BA and a 3.78 GPA. Now I wanted to be there, besides....I was paying for it.

Neither one of my boys is much more than a C student and I hope they wise up faster than I did.

Still a student but in high school I got 4.0's plus double credit most of the time which which bring it around to about a 6.0 average and 7.6 that I got one term...getting 4.0 in college...

Slacker when I started colege, I didn't think you needed a degree to be a cop. Became one, found out you need a degree to move up. I may or may not promote, but now that I'm back in college (with a 4.0), I want to keep all of my doors open.

I finished 164th out of a class of 194. Where I went to school, teachers were given too much free rein, until I got one's wings clipped in my Senior year. He failed me, but the Principal overrode his decision, and I got credit for the course(I would not have graduated otherwise). He personally did not like me; didn't like my Dad. Plus, if you weren't on the wrestling team he coached, you didn't stand much of a chance at a good grade anyway!

I was a drummer in the band; never was out for sports. I did well in History classes, and Auto Mechanics.

I had the distinction of knocking my Science teacher smack on his fat butt in my Freshman year. He had that coming to him for a long time; he was nothing but a bully. Nothing was done to me for that, either.
Other teachers had some nasty pranks pulled on them at different Halloweens. Although such shenanigans were blamed on me, they could not be proven. Even the teacher whose house got hit with 5 dozen eggs, and about 2 dozen dead, putrid chickens and garbage were strewn about his lawn! http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif(it was only a coincidence my best friend worked in a 30,000 chicken egg laying operation!).

I did well in classes where I had teachers who had respect for their students, and really cared about you learning something.

I'd like to see that study.

Honor student all through middle and high school, current GPA in college is 3.85 (damn math classes). And yes, I was in sports every season.

I'm still a student - I'm on the honors program at my university.
- 4.0 all through H.S.
- 4.0 last semester (college),
I would have a 4.0 this semester except for the one prof. who grades so hard that maybe 2 or 3 people out of 100 are going to get A's. http://www.officer.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif

Made it through HS by the skin of my teeth. Had a good time, partied, managed to stay out of serious trouble (how I don't know). Graudated with honors in Skipping Class and In School Suspension. Now 14 years later, I make the Principal's List with a 4.0 GPA, busting my butt between work and school. Who would have thunk it?

wonderwoman, i too take courses on the side. but now i have a means to an end. i take nothing that will not get me to where i want to be in the future. i found that education is real costly and in the end the courses are useless unless i benefit from them in the end. its sorta like going thru grade school again, and remembering all the things i was taught that i do not use today. http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

I was a B student all through high school. I probably could have done much better but I was seriously into cheerleading at that time. Gee, it's been so useful in my life now! If I could only go back and change things...Honestly, I'm not sure I would change things. I enjoyed being in school, didn't mind homework, loved all my classes except history, and most of all, I enjoyed my friends and truly enjoyed being a social butterfly!

Now that I'm back in school once again, anything below a 98 is unacceptable for me. I push myself very hard to get good grades. I know it will all pay off in the long run. http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

Average. More B's & C's than anything else with an occasional D in some courses. A's in PE & English. Hated math. Took Remedial Math as a Senior but it was so-o-o-o lame I made A's in it easily. College was a killer. All that freedom of being on my own was too much. Got 5 hrs. credit out of 36 in two semesters. But played every intramural sport there was & even went out for the soccer team even though I'd never played before. Lettered in it. Said to heck with college after that first year & got a police job. Several years later with a wife & baby went back to college. Made A's & B's but didn't finish. Got to the point I needed for a certificate pay raise though. It all depends on the motivation, doesn't it?
