View Full Version : question for all cops
[86er]JimmyPop

i wish to know why even though crime rates are going down, the national number of prison inmates is going up. also why is it that cops can seemingly kill anyone they want and not get in trouble just because they claim they are doing there jobs, which the last time i checked did not include killing people.
We try to limit the people we kill to the stupid ones.

Your idiotic post does NOT really warrant a reply but I will anyway.
You have to be a flaming idiot, a card carrying certified one, if you think cops go out to kill someone for the fun of doing it.
I challenge any of you toads to go through critical incidents such as a gunfight where split decisions have to be made.
Yes, trajedies happen and mistakes are made. Just because they are not sent to prisons does not mean they do not pay for it the rest of their lives.
Go ahead, sit in the safety of your home and play armchair quarterback. From your one statement I can tell you would NOT make a pimple on an LEO's butt.
Have a nice and SAFE day! http://www.officer.com/ubb/mad.gif

it sure is nice to see that you can insult me for raiseing a valid point, but that is the way things are done in this country.
Crime rate is going down BECAUSE the number of inmates is up! http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif:

Jimmy...you came on this forum insulting from the first post you made. Expect nothing less in return. You are, after all on a forum for police officers.
Had it been my forum you would have been banned instantly.

Good one JKT. I for one am a strong believer that crime going down because career criminals are getting longer sentences for even minor convictions. For example shortly after the passage of CA's 3 strikes law I caught one our local burglars with approximately .06 grams of methamphetamine. For those uneducated that is little more than the residue in a small baggie. The crook ended up getting 6 years state prison of which he had to serve 80% before being eligible for parole. Who knows how many crimes we prevented by wharehousing him away for almost 5 years. Before three strikes was enacted we would have been lucky to get a 2-3 year sentence of which he would have served 1/2 of the time before becoming eligible for parole.
I'm all for attempting to rehabilitate criminals but once they have demonstrated that they are career criminals we have a duty to lock them away so others won't be victimized.
And 86er, you ought to type your posts into MS Word or some other program with spell check before you put them on this board. Your atrocious spelling (along with your poor attitude to us) will turn us off and we'll stop reading and responding to your posts.

The reason crime rates are going down and the incarceration rate is going up is largely attributable to the desire of the general populace for people such as [86er]jimmypop to be locked away from the rest of society. When police officers kill people and get away with it because they claim it was their job, it occurs because it is their job and is often directly correlated with the need of law enforcement personnel to defend themselves or others from evil and dangerous people who present a threat and need to be shot, and often shot repeatedly. Thanks for asking!

And another thing JimmyPop. Remember the FBI crime statistics are only reported crimes to the police. The statistics you read about normally do not include information on how many more cases are solved than in previous years. I for one and of the opinion that technology is helping us solve more crimes more quickly which in turn is sending more crooks to jail.
Tell us JimmyPop. What would you do differently to improve policing? I challenge you to come up with some real constructive criticism for our profession. What changes would you make to law enforcement if you were king? Be sincere or don't bother responding.

You say you have a valid question.....fine, just point out what the valid question is. I must have missed it. If you knew anything about statistics, you'd know that the crime rate and the number of persons incarcerated are not linked.
If you're going to try to convince me that your statement that we kill whomever we want is the valid point, save your breath.
That pretty much covers your post. So where was the valid question?

So Jimmy you come on to a Cop oriented forum and post a question that it blatently against cops. Then you wonder why cops reply negetively. If your question had any resemblance of intelligence than maybe you would have been treated differently.
Oh, if someone presents deadly force against me - and I have no other alternative - I will use deadly force.

Here is your reply, why don't you go up to a cop in your neighborhood and ask your question to his face. But be careful, you might trip and fall. Keep the stupid questions to yourself!

Jimmy - as I see it, you got off easy regarding the replies to your post.
"crime rates are going down, the national number of prison inmates is going up"
- I believe that's the idea. http://www.officer.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
" and not get in trouble "
- correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there some kind of enquiry or investigation when this happens?
Best regards to all

Has someone ran JimmyPop's IP address against the one that's been used by JRS, Internal Affairs, and St. Just?
Because I can see a lot of similarity there...is it just me?

I saw his e-mail was out of San Francisco State. I searched their directory and jimmypop's e-mail address belongs to a Michael Urbach who would appear to be a student there.
Jimmypop couldn't be be a student there because SF State is one of the more conservative educational institutions in CA(not!).

It's been brought to my attention that some members of the forum were offended by my saying this... my apologies to whoever it is I've upset. Within three hours of my posting this... 3 persons were offended by it. It is important to note that I can't ban anyone, nor would I...if I could. This website belongs to our Webmaster... it's his place to make a call like that.
My intent was only in a playful manner... just like everyone else's.

Me too, Niteshift. With all the things said so far, I can't believe my little post seems so offensive. It seems that someone thinks that because I moderate, I shouldn't say things like this because it looks "power hungry" or something. I still don't see it, but, oh well... I may have to decide between just keeping my mouth shut or giving up moderating. We all know I can't keep my mouth shut... and I shouldn't have to miss out on the fun because a few people can't take a joke.
Really...it was just a joke. http://www.officer.com/ubb/wink.gif

I don't usually launch into people like that, but for this geek to blaatantly accuse us all of being murderers! That just tore it.
What I find to be just freakin HILARIOUS is that some folks whispered to the moderator that they had some disagreement, yet they wouldn't publicly post whatever arguement they had. Really, Rebecca, I didn't see that what you said was very offensive at all.
And if I'm reading between the lines correctly, they requested that I be banned.????
If anyone wants to take issue with anything I post, they should come straight to me and say it. If they have a legitimate arguement to make, I'm actually quite tame.
As to me being banned for THAT?!?

Jimmypop- Use your head!!! Your little stupid comment about cops being able to shoot people and get away with it is an insult to any honorable LEO who has ever had to take a life to defend another. There are people that have died at the hands of LEO's who may not have been the threat they were percieved to be, and that is sad, but the sad truth Cops are required to go into situations were people would kill them if given a chance. You should get off your duff and thank the very men and women that would defend you in your time of need. -Stay safe

JimmyPop, what would you do if you were in a situation when it was kill them or die? Cops in many countries are issued with guns to protect themselves and the public, not to go around killing people willy-nilly.
I say 'many countries' because I'm from the UK where most cops don't have guns, so I find this all rather irrelevant.

Boy Jimmypoopy boy, I'm no cop, but I've been around enough and read enough books to understand that you are a completely incompetant moron!! Do you honestly think that cops go and kill whomever they like? They are thrust into volatile situations requiring split second decisions. I'm assuming that you are basing these comments on stories like officers kill boy with wallet or toy gun in his hands. Well, let's see. It's dark, you're a cop that is responding to a man with a gun. You see a man come at you with what appears to be a gun. You shoot him. A toy gun falls from his hands. He dies. While you would feel bad, it is justifiable because how are you to know it is fake? Now, something like a translucent gun, colored green or something of that sort, no, it would not be justifiable. BUT, if it looks like a real gun, bang bang, no second thoughts. As for a wallet, that takes some understanding I guess, one of those "you had to be there" situations. Even wallets, in the dark, when held in the proper way, can be seen as guns or a weapon of some kind. Please think and try not to be so stupid next time you say something!!

Jimmy! This is madness! The police are not murderers. It's true, sadly, that some murderers have been police officers, but every profession has its share of bad guys. The police are mostly not bad guys. They are against the bad guys, and sometimes, sadly, that puts them in a situation that necessitates shooting at a person. That is extremely rare, and almost always justified. The police in Chicago are shot at hundreds of times per year, and shoot back only tens of times. I think they are in some cases maybe too reluctant to shoot, although I also think it's their judgement call, and not mine.
Could you maybe think a little before making a blanket remark that inappropriately accuses the police? I think they deserve better.
Sincerely,
Monty
