View Full Version : What do you think of the Springfield Armory XD pistols?

Has anyone had the opportunity to try out the SA XD handguns? I've been reading pretty good reviews on them and was wondering if anyone has first hand experience with them and what you thought of them.

I'm looking for a personal weapon, and maybe even carry it off duty once in a while. For personal use the size is fine for me, its about the size of a Glock 19. So I'm still debating between the 9 and the 40 cal. This guns comes with two 10 round mags..wether it be the 9 or the 40. They have the preban mags available that take 12 rds on both. So I think on this particular gun I would go with the .40 cal.

I can't comment on the XD because I've never fired one. But I do have a question -- how can there be "preban" magazines available for a gun that wasn't developed til after the ban?

I don't think there are true pre-ban mags around. However, folks have had good luck using the .40 mags in 9mms and converting Beretta 92 and S&W 59 series and Sig mags with minimal work. You may want to check out:
