How many of you have had other careers before getting into LE and what were they?

I started as a public relations specialist, became an advertising copywriter and did advertising sales.

I was the CEO of one of the biggest Fortune 500 companies. I really hated that job, so I left, then the company went under a few years later. I tried to warn them about that Arthur Anderson company, but they just wouldn't listen.

Then I worked at the Vatican for awhile, but me and John didn't really see eye to eye on a lot of things, so I left.

Of course I cant forget to mention that whole Microsft thing, Bill is still trying to pay me all the money he owes me. That was actually a pretty sweet job, but it was just so damned mundane.

Then I had the shrimp boat in Biola Battery Louisanna, I named it Jenny, and it sank after six months of shrimping.

When the shrimp boat sank I went to work for NASA, but the whole space station thing got really lonely.

Finally I landed a job as the po-po, been with that for a few years now. It's not a bad job, I think I can swing it for a few more years.

SpecialOps... so *that's* what's 'special' about ya, huh??? :p LOL! And we know that's not quite *all* true... He's JP to his near and dear friends... (His Holiness, that is, looking over shoulder for lightning to strike)

Me.... (putting on ballistic vest first) I worked in TV News for about a dozen years. NEWS, but back when it was news, not glorified commercials and ambulance chasers. Directed, produced, shot, even reported once or twice. Did Radio News (which I still love, but BOY do you get stalkers!) I got out when they cancelled part of my news for Gerry Springer.

Worked construction as an "oiler" on the Natural Gas Pipeline as it came through, for about 3 mos interim while my polygraph, oral boards, drug test, bg check et al were being done... Hated every moment, but learned a ton and don't regret it.

Started Dispatching with NO experience, ('cept being a Cop's kid, and on the real radio) but it was something I always wanted to do. Got on the road in a kind of round-about way, decided I love teaching Communications at the Academy level, and teaching Officer Safety to dispatchers, so I'd better get some credentials/credibility to do that.

And here I am. I am doing "Media Relations" for the Dept I work PT for as Admin Assist/Reception (just WAITING for the Reserve slot to open) and that's really fun because I get to combine the old love with the new.
