I am currently awaiting the test in January for the Chicago Police Department. Any help from current officers on what I can expect to get through the hiring process would greatly be appreciated.

I'm not a police officer, but I live in Chicago, and have seen several friends go through the process. The most recent of them is due to finish the probationary year in a couple of weeks.
You have to be sure to jump through all the hoops, and not break the rules. If the letter says be there at 6:00 AM to turn in you college transcripts, make sure you're there on time, no excuses. You're showing that you're ready to take on the responsibility of being answerable under a strict command structure.
Assuming you pass the written test, you'll have a physical test to pass. You'll need to be able to pass the reach test, so make you've done your hamstring stretching. You'll need to be able to bench press your own weight, so do some training if that's likely to be a problem. You'll have to be able to run pretty well for a couple of miles, so getting some running training in would probably be a good idea. When you run, make sure you're keeping a little ahead of the pace, but don't sprint way ahead and then wear out early.
You'll be given a drug screening test, so be sure to stay away from anything that could cause the test to be positive.
When you are ready for the psychological interview, try to relax and be honest. You're not expected to have a great deal of knowledge about police work. You need a clear understanding of right and wrong, and a sincere desire to serve the public in a protective capacity.
Assuming you pass that interview, there will be a background investigator assigned. That person will check your references, verify statements you've made, and try to find out as much as he can about your character.
Make sure you choose your references wisely. They should be persons of good character who have known you for a long time and who can say good things about you, and say them articulately.
Make sure you don't owe any parking tickets, or have any other debts to the city, as that could disqualify you. Make sure your residence is within the city limits, and keep it reasonably neat. The background investigator may visit. If you share a living space, make sure that anyone who lives with you is willing to be personable, and present a favorable impression.
Be sure to stay out of rowdy bars, and other places that you could get in trouble in.
Finally, try to do everything a little better than you have to, without getting too anxious or perfectionistic about it.
Best wishes to you in your efforts to become a Chicago Police officer.
Regards,
Monty

Monty,
Thanks for the words of advice. I should have nothing to worry about, I am confident that I can pass all phases. Thanks again.
