Anyone here recruiting from abroad yet? I understand there was a recent influx of Brit cops into NZ recently?
We have recently relinquished the British citizenship requirement in London, with any EU members welcome to join the police.

UJ - I asked Rugby who comes from NZ the same question, and he reckons that NZ is recruiting directly from the UK. I also heard that Queensland is also Recruiting from the UK.

UJ,
There is a detailed article on the NZ Police Association website about recruitment of UK officers. A female officer who worked at a nearby nick to me went on a career break and has now joined the NZ Police. One big downside is you cannot transfer your pension. I've posted the link if it helps. http://www.policeassn.org.nz/
If anybody is interested in serving in a UK force, nationality is no longer an issue, if you have the right to stay indefinately in the country.

No, the downside is you have to work in New Zealand. No firearms and no overtime? The English cops would be there only to get their citizenship then move to Australia wouldn't they?

9-11,
If you emmigrated to New Zealand from the UK and joined the police why would you want to then move to Australia ? Are NZ citizens eligible to join Australian forces ? I suppose it could be a back door way into Oz, but it sure seems a lot of hassle.
As for guns most UK cops aren't armed, and I haven't a clue about overtime in NZ. If I was younger and single, I might have given it a go myself as I already have relatives in Auckland.

:)
Sarge, as soon as you are a citizen of NZ, you are a permanent resident of Australia, and vice versa. This is the result of an agreement between the 2 countries. Permanent Residency is all that is required to be a cop in most Oz states, (except I think if you wish to become a federal agent with the AFP).
So why would the English cops want to immigrate to Oz? Eight police forces plus the feds to choose from, instead of one in NZ. You are paid for doing overtime (kiwi cops are not). Personal issue Glocks, oc spray, expandable batons, body armor (NSW). The number of specialist units in depts with 10,000 (Vic) or 14,500 officers (NSW), compared to the NZP. Climate, (Queensland;NT;WA); Big City challenges (Sydney, Melbourne); and finally, money. A Leading Senior Constable in NSW is on around $Aus70,000 plus.
Of course this is off the top of my head.

So doesanyone know if NZ will recruit UK cops again????
Monitor this webpage and/or email them (NZPA) for info. If there is enough interest there is a good chance they will do it again.
