Course: "FindingWords: Interviewing and Preparing Children for Court"
Just got back from the week long course in Plano, TX.
The "Cornerhouse" model is pretty much the national standard of forensic interview of children. It is designed for multi-disiplinary teams that investigate child abuse and especially child sex abuse.
I learned a good bit in the course, but have also been to other training on the same topic that covered different styles.
Most of this is variation on the same theme.
The folks from Cornerhouse and APRI were all great folks and the training was top notch. Well organized and presented and everyone there left with a new skill set in their bag of tricks.
Overall, it was time well spent, but I am also glad for the other training that I have had on the same subject. I would consider the past week a good, basic, 'foundation' type course. They do offer an advanced course as well, but do not take it on the road. You have to go to Minnesota.
