I recently attended the "Emergency Response to Terrorism: Basic Concepts" class from the USDOJ, FEMA, & NFA. Great course geared toward first respinders, be they FD or PD.
The course also went in the Incident Command system which FD's use, but PD's don't. While IC isn't necessary at most PD incidents, it looks like a good system at major incidents requiring a lot of resources and multiple agency interaction.
If the course is offered in your area, I think it's definitely worth considering.
