I am a training Sergeant with my Department and, I was curious to find out if there any Departments using the Airsoft simmunitions equipment for training and if so, how it is working out?

our SRT guys use them i was on the team befor thay used them, so i have personaly not used them. but from what i hear the guys love them. except when thay get hit http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif all thay have to do to use them is change the barrel of there wepon and away thay go. i saw this post and asked a few of them abot them, all were saying the same thing. thay love them. instant feed back, all one has to do is look where the hit was made, and thay can see what thay were doing wrong, ie not low enough not properly coverd what ever. the only caution thay made was to make sure that when using them you wear proper protective gear, and that thay will make a slight bruse, but in a few days it will go away. hope this helps

I have not used airsoft in my department, but I have played airsoft with several friends, like a game of paintball, and it is great. We play in shorts and a t-shirt if we want to, it only stings for a second if you get hit. We also wear paintball masks to protect our face. The only problem I see with using it for SWAT training is with all of the gear on, you might not be able to feel the hit, and it is not like paintball, so it leaves no mark, that is where honesty comes into play. It is very cheap though, we but handguns that run about $20 each, and you can get 2000 rounds for around $8, very reasonable. I love my Berreta 92F, it holds 27 rounds, and is very reliable, just slide the slide back each time, and you are ready to shoot. Of course, there are like full size MP5 autos that run around $400 too. You can also add accessories to them, like laser and a sure-fire light. I would say give it a try, and let us know how it turns out!! http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

I think there is a difference between Airsoft and Simmunitions, isn't there? Airsoft is those 6mm plastic BB guns that are replicas of real weapons, and Simmunitions is "real" bullets that shoot wax shells filled with colored paint- but they're shot from a real weapon after the above-mentioned barrel change. I think that's right. But maybe the thin air in Colorado has gotten to my brain. Too much Discovery Channel about SWAT teams, I think.
