Chief Butts has wanted to be LAPD's chief for some time. He might be in the running for the recently announced opening. If so, "rumor has it" that Bernard Parks (ex-LAPD COP and current LA City councilman) would be a strong backer. Chief Centeno (LAX, ex-SMPD Lt) supposedly has a very cordial relationship with Mayor "Tony V." and probably has (or had) his sights set on the LAPD opening himself. Butts leaving/Centeno staying as new LAWAA chief? :rolleyes:
