Having seen the way our local jail deals with incoming azzholes made me think of this.

How does your facility handle azzholes that have been there for a while? I know you all deal with them just like we do on the street and I know you guys have to hear alot of their crap because you cant get away from them.

So tell me how yall deal with the fun ones!

in my prison spec we are a bit luckier than our other ones as we get em straight from lockup or court we interview them you would know there usuall crap as its world wide..lol..we then get rid of them within a week or 2 to another of our nicks,if any of them jack up on reception we have our E.R.G there to greet them and then they run em upstairs to the iso/cells :)

We have a DRT (Detention Response Team) that handles the real winners

They work in five-person teams, plus a camera operator and the team leader. Everything is videotaped.

If the team leader cannot talk the inmate into cooperating, the team will either use OC and try verbal commands, and as a last resort, they go in.

When they go in, the first man has a shield (I think they are trying to get a convex shield, now) with the others pushing the first man and pin the inmate to the wall, restrain him (cuffs) and bodily carry him to a Violent cell (rubber room) where he is checked by Medical Staff, and ALL clothing is removed and they are offered a paper (exam-type) gown.

They are fed sack lunches, and checked on every 15 minutes until they decide to play nice.

It's pretty effective, and they have only had to rush two or three in the past two years.

Usually, they can be talked down and walked to Violent without incident.

Might be something about the Team Leader shaking the can of OC while talking to them :D

Sorry, just re-read the original post.

Incoming idiots are handled pretty much the same way I described above, except they are in a car instead of a cell.

Once out of the car, they are given another chance to cooperate, then the above happens.

We normally don't have too many problems, even if the transporting officers do.

We don't tolerate too much foolishness.

Hello SpecOpsWarrrior,
We had one a few weeks ago that thought he would decide who lived in his housing unit, BAD IDEA.. Well we were moving him to a max unit and he tells a few of his fellow inmates, that he was going to "kill em" when they all got to the "Lodge" (state prison). So we put him in a 4 man max unit, he gets in there and starts the same thing all over. Well this time we move him out for his own safety. Since one of the guys in there has killed inmates while doing time in the past(in another facility). We move him to a 1 man cell in our intake area, and after about an hour he starts kicking and pounding on the door. We give him a chance to stop, he does'nt, and we move him to our soft cell. After about 4 hours in the soft cell he decides he has had enough and tells us that he his sorry and wont do it again. We move him back to the 1 man intake cell, where he spends the next 4 days in lockdown. Plus he has a 4 page report that will follow him through court and to prison.
This episode lasted from 0830-1800.

Personally I like "the chair." After eight hours or so there, most everybody is ready to settle down and co-operate!

Spray them, chair them, zap them, get a bunch of your buddies and tackle them (then take your partner and doe si doe;sorry got a little country there). It all depends on the situation and how big of a report you want to write.
