Way to go Gazza.... like I said... I am sick of seeing my own name in the Topic Starter Section. (I hate seeing sections die!) I was about to register 2 other names to use just so it looked different!!
Spiderwoman and BatGirl!!!
Lets see..... Is your police system interchangeable with your prison system or are they separate?
Do you have tact teams?
Whats your biggest prison size?
Are your prisons old?
Are they government run or public?
Do you carry weapons?
If so what?
Do you have community support?
Are you paid well?

Well Wonderwoman, or Spiderwoman, or BatGirl if that is your true name.
Not in NSW is our police system interchangeable with the prison system. They are separate entities.
What is a tact team? What do they do? Are they anything like a swat team?
Our largest prison is Long Bay prison complex. The complex is comprised of five seperate institutions, 4 maximum and 1 minimum which houses males and females. It is governmently run.
Malabar Special Programs Centre (Maximum) It comprises the Special Care Unit, the Alexander Maconochie Unit (violence prevention), Lifestyles Unit (for HIV-positive inmates), the Kevin Waller Unit for self-harming and suicidal inmates, a sex offenders program.
Metropolitan Medical Transit Centre (Maximum) It is currently being used to hold inmates who have been discharged from Long Bay Hospital or are awaiting medical appointments.
Industrial Training Centre (Minimum) Holds those serving short sentences and those nearing release. Total inmate accommodation is 412.
Long Bay Hospital (Maximum) Holds a total of 120 inmate patients in four wards. One ward is for medical cases and the other three for long-term and short-term psychiatric cases. The hospital is jointly administered by the Department of Corrective Services and the NSW Department of Health.
Special Purpose Centre (Maximum) Holds inmates requiring special protection.
Prison officers inside the complex do not carry weapons. There are some who man the towers who are armed.
As I am not a member of the corrective services, this is all I could find about that prison complex.

Artie: Tact teams=Tactical Teams or in some areas Detention Response Teams (DRT). the are used for quelling prison or jail uprisings, cell extractions (uncooperative inmates) and cell shakedowns among other things. Ours is used for the above and to augment to courthouse security detail in high-profile trials.
Essentially they are a "SWAT" Team for use inside the facility.
