Okay... time to fess up on a hot topic! What do you think of parole? Whats good and bad about it?
Should the horrific killings that occur from those on Parole spoil the whole system of parole?
P.S. I am getting sick of seeing my name every time I enter this part of the forum so feel free to post topics eh???
Why? You have such good questions! http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I think those going up for parole should be investigated more thoroughly than they are currently. Here, I believe, only their institutional record is taken into consideration, and I think their WHOLE criminal history should be reviewed, and the victim or their family should be present at the hearing.
Too many times, those released on parole are either not ready or have the officials buffaloed to the point that their true nature is not evident.
Hot enough?
Horseshoes anyone? http://www.officer.com/ubb/wink.gif

parole here is between the top n bottom of there sentence ie 14 max 12 min parole is granted if eligible after the 12 they look at jail time, work, any trouble in the prison etc no victim is present at a hearing and no victim impact statements tendered either,my personall view is victims should have a sayas some people say rehabilitation in jails will help them ha ha no jail has rehabilitation, most of em to interested in rorting the system to find an easy way out

I personally dont like the idea of parole, I think in some instances it has been poorly managed and used to simply ease prison overcrowding.
I am absolutely 100% against parole for violent offenders. I believe in truth in sentencing for violent offenders, no work credits or credits for good behavior, amd definitely no parole! If a violent offender recieves a 20 year sentence then he or she needs to do everyday off of that 20 year sentence.
Now for non-violent offenses I believe parole should be allowed if an offender has demonstrated that rehabilitation has actually taken place.
