I'll try find a url for you that explains the Health and Safety Process in Ontario.

However, I do know that it only works if both sides are committed to it. If it is just used as a tactic to resolve other agenda issues then it isn't of value to the spirit of the legislation.

Does legislation drive your commitee structure?

Hi there! I checked out the www.safejails.ca (http://www.safejails.ca) link. Nice flash site put out by our MOC, must have had some $ in their budget to promote the new superjails, but 'safe jails'? Much like the government found 6 million dollars for all the tv promo about our education system! Time will tell with their annual report in a years time, especially when they quote the daily cost for one inmate of $138.00, and have not included all the other costs such as transporting prisoners to court (ie. from Penetang to Barrie and back), or health costs, etc. Obviously, I'm biased here, but that's another story in itself. Just couldn't resist putting my 2 cents in here. :)

Actually, speaking of where money is going .. I visted the local university today for an art presentation... I could not believe my eyes... the chairs were all torn and crappy, the walls dirty and the whole place looked like a germ filled whatever....

For all the costs these kids have to pay for university... I wonder why the heck they can't afford a decent chair....ah never mind.... I know the answer! :)

Your $ goes to the same place mine goes? I'd quote a CO right on the front line of bargaining right now about how our $ is wasted but I really should get his permission. hehe...BUT read in the local paper today, inmates here were complaining they have to pay $1.10 for cigarettes when other jails only charge .55 Wait! The average taxpayer who smokes pays what now, over $4.00/pkg? And the taxes from those sales go where again? Ooooooh, already dreading the next election! Getting off topic here, I think, but mumble, mumble just the same! My 2 cents again...Cdn at that! :rolleyes:

Gazza: Okay, okay, I was just testing you to see if you really read what I send you everyweek! Good idea on getting other input on H&S committees though. See if you get an answer back from 'my' source. Tons of info there! ;)
