My step dad worked at a major pen in Illinois before he joined the sheriff's office. Took me in once. Scared the crap out of me. Made two mental notes, 1. Do not do crime 2.Don't want to work in a prison. I salute you for what you do. I am a LEO on the street but I could not be locked up with cons all day. You do a necessary service under some of the worst conditions I can think of. My only experience was working correctional custody in the military and I hated that (3 months). God bless ya, stay safe all.

Thanks mack for that bit of reconigtion means a lot to me and my fellow prison officers.Believe it or not id rather work the prisons as i feel safer there than the job you guys on the street do, all the best to you mack ,stay safe and watch your back :)

I agree with Mack811 and it is nice to see more police and military people visit this section.

I don't think of this section as only for Correctional Officers to bond and share ideas but also a learning area for everyone to talk about correctional issues that impact the Justice System as a whole.

When you think that some of the jails are over 100 years old and have few windows and staff rooms the size of a closet...... you are doing a job very few want!
