Im an Air Force K-9 Cop and I am getting out 3 years from now. I would like to know if they are any correction facilities/prisons that have k-9 and if so, can you go right into that specialized unit or do you have to wait like on a police department?

Thanks ;)

The Florida DOC has a k9 unit that works out of the IG's office for the state. Im not sure if you can go there directly however. I do know that there are several county jails that have k9's but you DO have to be there for a while first.

Being near the border they usually use Canada Customs drug dogs. The local police force just got 5 new police dogs so they will probably be used soon. No Correctional K9 teams that I have heard of.

if you move to aussieland D most of our prisons have a dog squad k9 units we use them for drug det, riot control, general searches, prisoner escorts, etc etc in vic you join the prison service then simply apply when vacancies arise in the dog squad
