Good morning!! :)

How old is your institution/jail/correctional facility?

What do you house in it... female, male, other ( :) ), young offenders?

Are you max., med., or min. security type?

20 years old this month, but currently under partial renovation.

We house male, female, (and shemales) :D

and are considered a max security facility, but do have an area that is considered medium.

The jail in my county is about 25 years old, and houses everyone we drop off. :D I know they take everybody but the ankle biters and those have to go to a separate juvenile institution about an hour and a half drive away! They have the usual housing classifications, minimum, medium and max., they also have what you would consider a supermax for the real idiots! :D

Our Detention Center is about 15 yoa. We plan on adding approx.150-200 beds within the next 5 years. We house both male and females, and also min and max inmates. We do not house inmates for the state or for the feds. We are not a direct supervision facillity at this time. But it is a possibility for the future.

The facility I work in is a large maximum security state prison. We are the state's largest and most secure institution.A state of the art high tech facility with all the latest security/correctional technology, built in 1998.We have 1,024 general population cells,128 "super-max" cells in our SMU (Special Management Unit) and 28 secure HSU (Health Service Unit) cells. The whole facility has 366 cameras that record 24/7.A secure perimeter with armed K-9/Perimeter Patrol officers. We even have a Mountain Bike patrol.
We currently house about 1,300 inmates and have about 500 employees to include about 400 "security staff" Captains,Lt's,Sergeants, and Corrections Officers.
We are part of a larger prison complex of approximately 1000 acres,a medium security prison with over 1,000 inmates and a small minimum-security unit, the department's Training Academy, power plant, various administrative and support buildings, farm, and a K-9/tactical training facility/kennels.

My jail was built in 1929. It's a medium facility with i/m's 18-25. We're considered a youth jail but we do have a few youngsters and a few older guys. The majority is 18-25 and the average bid is roughly 3 years. Not a bad place to work.

I work for the Tippecanoe County Sheriffs Dept in Lafayette, IN as a Corrections Officer at the Jail. We house Male and Female Adult only inmates and currently have about 450 with a max of up to 525. We are an Indiana Department of Corrections Holding qualified facility and the original jail was built on this site in 1980 and renovated in 2003. I now know the term....."Build it and they will come"....eh, job security I guess lol
