Got a link? I know one happened in Altamonte Springs but it was a SCSO, the guy actually wrote me a ticket months prior. Was this a serious crash? An ASPD officer told me of him hitting something and causing some serious damage but I dont remember him saying he hit a person/car, only public property.

An ASPD MPO (they have a weird ranking system) was involved in a high speed traffic crash for an unknown reason. It was not SCSO, not sure where you go that from. It did not happen in Altamonte Springs, it happened in Orange County just outside of Altamonte Springs. FHP and Altamonte Springs did duel THI investigations. The MPO came out of it mostly ok, however the passenger in the second vehicle has been in a coma since.

I really don't see why anyone not involved would feel the need to "make a judgement call". All of the important judgement calls have already been made and done with. It was an unfortunate event that left several lives ruined, most important of which is the passenger in the second vehicle and his family.

Yes, it was a crappy night at work and this just happened to be the first post I saw when I came in.

given the way the story has been covered it casts an unfavorable light on this dept's handling of both the situation and officer...i dont want to be prejudicial of this ahead of time

I dont think the true story will ever be known being that the officer has some brain damage and cannot remember the accident and the passenger is in a coma.... so who are we to judge if we never get to hear the real story.. and anyways why judge? We are all fellow LEO's here.. if the guy made a mistake he did.... I mean he paid for it.. he had alot of years with Altamonte and resigned..the guy paid with his carreer..... The news is always going to slant it the way they want to. I would say you want to know the best truth...then file a freedom of info request for FHP report... but I have no clue why you would want to know that bad.
