I applied to them last year and was told they only do civil process and court room duties. The kicker for me was they told me I would have to use my own vehicle for civil process. I was like your nuts. Basically it looked like a crappy job with no enforcement powers.

VERY FUNNY! The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Manchester PD(west st.louis county) is hiring as well.

The St. Louis County SD is not your typical SD. All enforcement functions of a typical SD are performed by the County PD. As Dixon mentioned, their functions are limited to the courts and serving civil process. If you are looking for traditional law enforcement duties, the SD is not where you want to work.
