Should be soon, since a couple of their officers got arrested out here in Vegas ;)

Not for I while I would suspect.... State Gov is cutting state services and C/C of Hono is cutting back on services as well.... Tourism is way down and there isn't any money coming in.......

They are in search of a new Chief, so that might be something to thing about as well becaues who knows what direction the new Chief will want to take the agency....

Besides....why move out here? Only reason I came becaue US Gov paid for my move. Had I done it own my own, I'd be looking at well over 10K......

HPD doesn't pay the best in the world....recruit starts at $48,336 per year and Officer's start at $50,256 per year....that isn't much in this economy where gas is at $3.25 right now....and a gallon of milk is over 8 bucks.....

Just sayin'.....

I have to agree with Bearcat on this. As a frequent visitor I always get the pipe dream of moving there but HPD's pay is not worth it. Our COL is high but noting like there. There was an opening in Kauai that looked nice but the same applies.

Coming here for the pay is probably last on the list, though here on the big island we get compensated for driving our own vehicles and for fuel, which can work out if you don't get a new one every few years. The pay has really gotten better under the current union leadership. 6% raises the last few years plus clothing and gun allowances.....they just need an educational incentive like I had in Massachusetts.:D
