Tier 4, retirement vesting, etc.

Hey guys, I am thinking about applying to Rochester PD and a couple other NY departments. Do local law enforcement agencies in NY have their own retirement systems, or are they a part of the general state system that uses Tier 4 and Tier 5? Also, under the Tier 4 system (or whatever retirement system Rochester uses), how many years will it take before a police officer retirement fund can get vested?

There is no Tier 5 yet... but who knows how long that will last..

With Tier 4 you will get vested after 10 years (meaning you need to pay into it for 10 years.)
