Can someone let me know what the pba dues are? Is it $30 a check or $30 a month?
I'm trying to figure out what my take home pay will be.

NYPD. I just started. Haven't gotten my first pay check yet.
I do not know what the figure is now, but it is taken out every check, not monthly, if you got the figure of $30, then it is $30 a check. It would be 2X a month (3X on the months you get paid 3X).

are we (NYPD) paid twice a month or every 2 weeks? I thought it was twice a month but I want to make sure
You get paid every other Friday, but look at a calender, there are months that that you will have the extra check for a month with an "extra Friday"(I think 2x a year).
You still get paid every two weeks.

I pay $36 every check.
We get paid every other Thursday.
So... the 6th would be a payday coming up, then the 20th, then Sept 3rd.
Every second thursday, like a religious holiday.

You may get the check late on Thursday, but look at the date on the check, it is Friday, and most banks will not post the check until Friday.

Yep
I am amazed at how high your union dues are. $36 * 26 = $936 per year! (There are 26 two-week periods in a year.)

I think it's pretty reasonable, the PBA puts (I think) $500 or aso yearly into a wells fargo annuity fund, plus PBA dues include our vision/dental/prescription...
of course, the best amount is $0 ;)

plus its a tax write off
plus its a tax write off
I think you can write off union dues only to the extent that the amount exceeds 2% of your adjusted gross income.
