I'm a police officer in the Metropolitan Police Service in London and should hopefully be visiting New York for my first time this November.

I have heard good things from friends who have been there and other states who have met the police there, been given a tour of building and cars, and even gone on a ride-a-long.

I was just wondering does this still go on really and what my chances would be of doing something like that? Also I have heard of bits of kit being exchanged, any truth to this as any NYPD kit would be a nice momento... all in the interests off international relations of course ;)

Just a little about me should anyone reading this be in a position to help; I'm a Constable with 7 years in the job and currently work within the Diplomatic Protection Group, and as such am a firearms officer. I'm sure many of you know but UK police are unarmed, only a small percentage of us are.

Many thanks.

Contact the PBA, not the department, you would have a better deal with the "unofficial" tour, rather than an official tour.
