Hey,
I live all the way down in Arizona now, but I used to live in Westchester County, NY. Down here sworn officers are allowed to carry off-duty at all times with the weapon concealed, even into banks and buildings that don't normally allow firearms. Is this the same in the state of NY?
Thanks.

yes. the statute that allows off-duty officers to carry is federal. i do believe however, that there are stipulations to the rule regarding the possession of a firearm at certain museums, religious dwellings and/or historic sites or some crap like that - don't quote me, i just remember reading it recently, it's probably nonsense.
here is a link to HR-218; the leo carry law

Off duty law enforcement in New York State may carry their firearm concealed anywhere in the state. However, this does not apply to federal buildings. HR 218 allows all sworn LE and eligible retired LE to carry their firearm throught the country provided they follow the carry rules of the state they are in. For instance if a state has a rule that firearms are not allowed on school grounds then a visiting LE officer may not carry on school grounds. Again federal BUILDINGS are not authorized.

Yep, as sprkarrstr stated, the only places I know of are Federal Buildings. I had Federal jury duty once and had to check it in w/ the Marshalls in the lobby
Certain "private" places ban firearms from everyone, including off-duty's,(on duty, can carry-of course) the Empire State Building is one of them. I am sure there are more, I just do not know them.

Where I live we carry our guns every place. I don't know about Yankee Stadium but in Ralph Wilson Stadium or HSBC arena we pack our heat. How are they going to find out? Keep it concealed. If they pat you down or something just flash the ol tin and in ya go.
Just don't be drunk... Alcohol + firearms = :(

My buddy was told he could not carry at Citi Field when we went to a game a few weeks ago. He told them he was armed and they still wanted to scan him. What idiots.

I went to a Met game, and Independence Hall in Philly on vacation 2 weeks ago, and had no issues at either. I carried and showed the appropriate credentials, and was treated as best as I could have ever wanted.
Kudos to NYPD, and Federal Parks Rangers.
