My name is Steve. Thought id introduce myself here. I am in my last year of college with a major in accounting. Heavily involved with extracurricular activities at school. Hope to become a law enforcement officer one day. I have interned at a local police department. Currently I am in the STEP program with customs and border protection, hoping to get that changed to SCEP. Also I have an internship with ATF. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in specific departments I would find out what their criteria is for new hires and try to integrate that into your education plan if you can.

I am starting to be pushed in the direction of doing accounting after college. I have recently looked into several SCEP program that involve accounting with different agencies.

Baysidegal where are you a police officer at? Are you near philadelphia, I heard the tests were opening up this fall and I was aiming to take them just in case.

Tiny, I am not sure if Philly is offering a test anytime soon. You can keep checking the site www.ppdonlone.org or call the Recruitment unit (I think its 215-683cops)

There is basically a hiring freeze right now for Philly. If you take the test its a VERY long process. It can sometimes take up to 2 years from the time you take the test to get on.
