Does anybody know a site where I can find a ankle holster for magazines and cuffs? I need something for double magazines on one leg and maybe cuffs on the other. I don't need a gun ankle holster, just something for magazines. I was going to try and make one myself, simliar to a belly band but I can't find a store that sells elastic that wide.

Thanks alot
Adam

Check out Galco Holsters (http://www.usgalco.com/Default.asp). They have an ankle band, made of elastic that holds one mag, and has two pockets (handcuffs, cellphone, wallet, etc).

Yeah that one from Galco is what I had in mind but not for $37. I think I will try to make one instead, it shouldn't cost more than $10.

yes,

$37 for elastic and velcro is a little steep. I think it is a great idea to try and make one yourself. I am sure you can find all the stuff in local stores, plus you can make it to your exact specs. down to the exact size of your mags. Let us know how it works out!

take care

I've got an 'Ankle Safe'. It's actually quite comfortable....with a SINGLE column mag or folding knife. Less so with a Glock mag.

Shooter,
In your opinion, would you consider that "ankle safe" a better way to carry spare mags while off-duty, or for other concealement purposes? I have seen some realy nice concealable mag cases, but stumbled upon the ankle safe while looking at holsers on the Galco site.
Seems like a good idea, but i have never had the opppourtunity to carry concealed. What do you think?
Take care.

An ankle holster for a gun is one thing...but I have my doubts as to why anybody would want to store their spare mags and especially their cuffs down at their ankles.

These are things that you want to have as close to your waist as possible. You want quick access to these items, and if one hand is already occupied with your gun the last thing you want to have to do is try to balance yourself as you go for your mags/cuffs with the other.

My job requires me to be as covert as possible and having an untucked shirt is not the best way to go everyday. I will also have the element of surprise, so I'm not to worried about having to reload quickly, because if I went through one mag then reloading won't make a difference. Also I never work alone.

I went to a couple of sewing stores and nobody sells elastic that wide, I'm going to try a sports store and see if I can find something there.

You might try getting an elastic ankle or knee brace and modifying that.

Just a thought....

Reloads should be kept close at hand. IMO, reloads and cuffs at the ankles is a marketers idea of how to sell more gear. Nothing more.

"...so I'm not to worried about having to reload quickly..."

One type three (double feed) failure is all it should take to change you mind on this.

(Edited becuase I left out a word or two. Or three. Too much sun, I guess.) ;)
